As for the shirt printing method, there’s DTG and custom embroidery if you think screenprinting is kinda overrated. But screenprinting is still the best printing method available for large orders of custom t-shirts. It can process multiple shirts at a time, up to 7 colors per design.

To print your own shirts online, choose first the site you want to use for your online shirt creation.  I recommend Shirtmagic here ‘coz I’ve been using them ever since. The site has a user-friendly interface; but that’s just one of its many features that I love. The products were categorized accordingly for easy browsing.

So let’s go back to printing your own t shirts using Shirtmagic:

• First, load the style of shirt you want to customize. Please take note that aside from t shirts, you can also create custom hats and bags so don’t limit yourself to customizing clothes alone.
• Once the shirt is ready, change the color according to your preference.
• When it comes to the designing part, you have two (2) options: use the images on the site’s clip-art folder or upload your own design.
• Add some messages by using the text line feature of the designer.
• Check the shirt one more time for modifications before proceeding to the check-out page.
• If you think the shirt is ready for printing, choose the printing method to process the design on the shirt.
• Make sure to fill in the necessary details like the size and quantity of your order
• If it’s a large order of custom shirts (6 pieces and up), screenprinting is recommended. If you’re just ordering for yourself, direct-to-garment printing is ideal.

Quality of Fabric

High quality t shirt need not to be expensive; just well-made. A well-made shirt means the right fabric is used. Most of the time, basic t shirts has seamless collar, taped neck and shoulders, double-needle stitching all throughout. As for the fabric, consider pre-shunk 100% cotton, usually ring spun or combed cotton. These processes add softness to the fabric. Brands known for softness of its fabric are Hanes, Gildan and District Threads.

Printing Options

If you’re creating custom t shirts for a large group of people (i.e. family reunions, support groups, school uniform, etc.) screen-printing is the best option. For sports jerseys, heat press and screenprinting are ideal depending on the type of fabric.  If you’re just creating t shirts for yourself, direct-to-garment printing is recommended, while custom embroidery works well with custom polo shirts.

Cost

Always choose shirt printing companies that offer big discounts for bulk orders of custom printed shirts. Since cost of services are readily available online, compare prices of printing  + shipping. If the company accepts returns for mistakes, the better. Always know your options so you can have a better understanding of what you’re paying.
